The 2016 East Contra Costa County African American Health Empowerment Collaborative (AAHEC) is a community based alliance of east county residents, local business owners, representatives from healthcare organizations, government agencies and community churches. Through sustainable partnerships our goal is to increase community awareness around healthy living, identify and address environmental, social and economic factors that impact individual, family and community health.

The goals of the East Contra Costa County African American Health Empowerment Collaborative are to:
  • Promote, support, encourage and facilitate community partnerships to reduce health risks and increase access to healthy foods and essential resources.
  • Promote, support, encourage and facilitate community driven improvement activities to educate and advance individual, family and community health.

Message from the Chair
The East Contra Costa County African American Health Empowerment Collaborative (AAHEC) is a community-based organization that formed in October 2011 after the very successful African American Health Empowerment Expo on September 24, 2011. The goal of the AAHEC is to increase community awareness and involvement in the health care of African Americans. The Collaborative is committed to working with residents, community leaders, organizations, and businesses to address the personal, environmental, and economic factors that impact the health of the African American community.
